Australian National Band Championships

The Australian National Band Championships is the premier contesting event for brass and concert bands in Australia, attracting bands from across Australia and New Zealand. The team at Brassbanned have been live streaming the championships since 2010.

Year Location When
2022 All States Cancelled
2023 Newcastle, NSW 7th to 10th April
2024 Adelaide, SA 29th March to 1st April

The Brass Band Championships are required, under the Council's regulations, to be held at Easter.

The Concert Band Championships may be held in conjunction with the Brass sections at Easter, but may be run separately if requested by the host State Governing Body.  Usually both are held at Easter.

In 1996 the Band Association of New South Wales conducted the Brass sections in Sydney at Easter and the Concert sections in Wollongong over the Queens Birthday long weekend in June. In 1999, the South Australian Band Association applied to conduct only the Brass sections which were held in Adelaide. The Concert sections were conducted by the Band Association of New South Wales in Sydney, again in June.
